'Alias for PageTitle' Plugin
(Joomla 1.5 SEO without core hack!)
VAK18 created a plugin to enhance Joomla 1.5 's Search Engine
Optimization without a core hack! This plugin will replace the title
tag with the article alias, instead of using the regular article title.
This is not a core hack, just a simple plugin, so you don't have to
worry about modified core-files with each Joomla upgrade.
This plugin is released under the GNU/GPL License.
Installation:
- Install the .zip package
- Go to 'Extensions -> Plugin Manager'
- Select the 'content' type plugins
- Look for ' Content - Alias For PageTitle' and publish it.
From now on, the Article Alias will be used to set the <title>
tag instead of the Article Title. Great opportunities for Search Engine
Optimization!

The plugin has been modified to work correctly in Joomla RC3.
Update 12 februari 2008:
Unfortunately, the Joomla 1.5 stable code creates a lot of changes to the Alias field's content. Spaces are automatically replaced by dashes, and the content is changed into lowercase. This makes the plugin a lot less useful than it was before.
I will have to rewrite the plugin, to make something useful of the Alias field's content again. The update will be posted as soon as possible.
